909 B-17 Nine O Nine A2 Artwork B/17 Jacket Grouping

Price:  Call for Pricing

Offered for sale is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a famous A2 flight jacket from the Nine O Nine . The Nine O Nine flew more missions over Europe then any other B17 during the war, it is estimated at over 140 missions. The plane was part of the 323rd bomb squadron 91 bomb group, same unit the Memphis bell . The jacket offered today belonged to a member of the FIRST crew of the Nine o Nine Henry R Stiles , he was the bombardier and navigator. The grouping consist of his A2 Jacket painted probably by famous USAAF artist Tony Starcer ,his WW2 Wings, his Pre-Korean War dress blues from 1949 , his WW2 training flight log,WW2 Wings, two original copys of his Air Medal citation, his wartime ribbon bar and a nice unnamed but numbered Air Medal. Grouping also consist of a grouping of pictures from the 1980s of Stiles standing in front of the restored Nine O Nine .The jacket is dry but still displays well, the cuffs and waist band are tattered but the main course being the artwork is solid! To our knowledge this is the last surviving real NINE O NINE A2 jacket in existence, and maybe one of the last pieces of the original plane which was decommissioned in December of 1945 then sold for scrap a few months later. This is a REAL piece of not only WW2 History but also a piece of American and Aviation History! Putting a price on that is difficult , so on this grouping we will discuss serious offers via email or phone with a potential interested party.
